Epson releases new SureColor press for the signage market

The new SC-S7100 incorporates a range of technologies aiming to enhance both user experience and output quality

Epson has launched the SureColor S7100, the latest addition to its lineup of wide-format signage printers. The SureColor S7100 builds upon the previously released SC-S40600, which has reportedly sold over 11,000 units globally. A four-colour eco solvent printer, the S7100 incorporates a range of technologies aiming to enhance both user experience and output quality.

The press, which uses UltraChrome G3 inks, comes with an upgraded PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead to facilitate faster printing and an expanded print width in a single pass in comparison to previous models. The printhead upgrades translates to an increase in the number of nozzles from 360 to 400.

According to Epson, the S7100 offers a productivity increase of 23.8% in default mode compared to the SC-S40600. Other features include a new nozzle verification technology, an automated nozzle condition detection system which alerts users to issues to optimise printer performance. With the new release, which uses UltraChrome G3 inks, Epson has transitioned away from 700ml cartridges to 800ml ink packs, with the aim of lowering the frequency of ink replacements.

In alignment with Epson’s sustainability goals, the packs are reportedly 84% lighter than the cartridges and generate 91% less waste per pack.

The S7100 also comes with a ‘Text Sharpness’ feature, a function designed to enhance the precision of small text printing and improve readability. Other software features include the Cloud Solution PORT platform, which provides real-time insights into printer production statistics, equipment utilisation, and service information.

Speaking of the release, Chris Davies, head of commercial and industrial (C&I) product management at Epson Europe, says:

“The SureColor S7100 embodies Epson’s ongoing commitment to innovation and dedication to supporting signage professionals. With its enhanced productivity, the SC-S7100 enables users to produce high-quality signage, ensuring reliable performance backed by UltraChrome G3 inks. Designed to meet the diverse needs of the signage market, the SC-S7100 combines advanced technology with many user-friendly features. With its robust capabilities, Epson aims to set the highest quality and reliability standards for large-format signage printing.”

Epson have released a range of new presses for the signage and wide-format market in recent months, including the new ML-16000JQ Monna Lisa printer earlier this month, as well as its first direct-to-film (DTF) printer, the SC-G6000, in January.
